Stop 1: Technical visit to EDERRA SA, a manufacturing
industry that produce good quality products with poplar wood, such as
laminated beams, edge glued panels, tongue- and- groove boards and moldings
among other products under the International Standards, ISO 9001 and ISO
14001.

Transfer to Delta del Paraná Experimental Station of
the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (EEA INTA).

Stop 2: Visit to a poplar plantation (Populus deltoides clone ´Australiano
129/60´ - Age: 21 years) to describe the water management in the forest
systems of the Paraná River Delta. Hydrological and salts dynamics monitoring
in inventory plots.

Transfer to CAABY, a private farmland
specialized in silvopastoral systems (SPS).
|

Stop 3: Exploring different aspect of a SPS that
integrate afforestation using Populus
deltoides clones (´Australiano 129/60´, ‘Carabelas INTA’, ‘Ñacurutú INTA’,
among others) with Aberdeen Angus cattle for beef production increasing the
efficiency in the use of resources in terms of space and time, reducing
risks, and improving system stability.

Gomes Family.

Stop 4: poplar clone experimental trial of INTA
breeding program. This trial was installed in 2014 and include 31 Populus deltoides genotypes obtained
by hybridization in 2006 and 2008.

breeding program. This trial was installed in 2017 and include 11 Populus deltoides genotypes obtained
by hybridization between 2006 and 2011.

Technology (INTA). Brief description of the Delta del Paraná territory.

Stop 1: Visit to experimental field of the Delta del
Paraná Experimental Station. Description of the different stages of Salix breeding program of INTA
(progenies banks, clonal banks, comparative tests) and the project of the
conservation and introgression of Salix
humboldtiana, the only native species of Salicaceae in South America.
Pest and eco-physiological study in support of clonal selection.

Coffee break in the field with tasting of honey produced
in the Delta del Paraná.

Stop2: Visit to Agrosilvopastoral Systems with
outstanding willows clones, particularly designed to produce high-quality of
wood, beef, forage and/or honey according to the demands from both the
domestic and the international markets.

Transfer to “Las Carabelas”, a private farmland
specialized in protected Salix
plantations belong to Papel Prensa SA.

Reception. Brief description of the company and the
establishment (forestry of the operative plantations and water management).
The INTA-Papel Prensa agreement with a focus on willow breeding.

Stop 3: Visit to the field of production observing
the adoption of improved willow materials. Traditional plantations and new
plantations with the improved clones. The reconversion of the productive
system under the integration of new adopted genetics and silvicultural
management.
